    What we're looking for

As the Environment and Carbon Reporting Manager at LR (Lloyds Register), your primary responsibility is to oversee and minimize the carbon impacts resulting from LR's operations. You will play a crucial role in advancing LR's Net Zero Roadmap; you will be responsible for supporting the implementation of strategies to measure, reduce, and mitigate the carbon emissions generated by our operations. This role requires a deep understanding of carbon accounting, sustainability practices, and a commitment to driving our organisation towards a low-carbon future. Your work will centre on optimising the Net Zero roadmap, associated reporting and further embedding the ISO 14001 certification and additional reporting.

    The role:

    • You will lead on the calculation and reporting of LR's carbon emissions across Scope 1, 2 and 3, supporting engagement with the net zero plan and reporting of performance.
    • Co-ordinate carbon accounting, forecasting, carbon reduction projects, and net zero pathways. Develop and maintain a comprehensive carbon inventory, tracking emissions from all relevant sources within the organization.
    • Stay updated on evolving carbon accounting standards and ensure compliance with reporting requirements.
    • Monitor and analyse data to identify areas for improvement and optimisation in carbon management efforts.
    • Develop and automate our Sustainability reporting and forecasts, including carbon footprint measurement, GHG protocol requirements, and SBTi metrics.
    • Generate models and insights to support sustainability-related decision-making and assess climate-related risks and opportunities for the business.
    • Contribute to materiality assessments and manage metrics to guide decision-making and align our vision with ESG measurements.
    • Support trade-off decisions across spending and returns, contributing to LR's Sustainability strategy on carbon reductions and corporate travel policy.
    • Manage and facilitate the delivery of LR's carbon reduction and transition plan, working with internal stakeholders and external consultancies to track progress, get buy-in for reduction projects, and track performance against our SBTi.
    • Work with individual teams to track carbon performance, reporting on performance against reduction targets and identifying opportunities for emissions reduction.
    • Prepare the company's sustainability reporting efforts, including data collection, analysis, and reporting in accordance with UNGC, SECR, ESOS, TCFD, end of year reports, and other relevant reporting frameworks.
    • Stay updated on relevant legislation and standard methodologies to support submissions and ensure compliance with international regulatory reporting obligations for Sustainability (SECR, ESOS, CRFD, and CSRD), in collaboration with Legal.
    • Be a storyteller: Help inspire our colleagues to feel part of the change, not just in reducing our carbon emissions but our wider sustainability journey.
    • Identify opportunities for improving data collection and reporting processes.

    What you bring

    • Proven experience in data, analysis, and reporting in carbon and sustainability.
    • Passionate about helping to understand 'why', with analytical expertise, across large/multiple data sets and an ability to problem solve.
    • Data visualisation: Responsible for bringing data to life through development of key visuals and dashboards. Strong data and facts are foundational to supporting narrative, sustainability strategy, and you will have experience of using data insights for internal/external communications.
    • Experience working with multiple stakeholders to embed sustainability in day-to-day operations.
    • Have a natural style that brings sustainability to life with confidence and strong storytelling skills that influence and inspire change.
    • Experience in managing external partners and ability to build trusted relationships.
    • Experience in reporting and/or internal communications.
    • Open-minded & collaborative, with sound judgment and a creative edge.
    • Able to manage own time, project manage in a matrix style, and operate without close supervision.
    • Valuable to have had existing experience in delivering with net zero roadmaps.
    • Bachelor's degree in environmental science, sustainability, or a related field (Master's degree preferred).
    • Minimum of 3 years of experience in carbon management, sustainability, or a related role.
    • Strong knowledge of carbon accounting principles and methodologies.
    • Familiarity with relevant environmental regulations and standards.
    • Excellent project management and communication skills.
    • Ability to work collaboratively and influence stakeholders at all levels.
    • Proficiency in data analysis and reporting tools.
    • Certification in sustainability or carbon management is a plus.
