We are seeking a skilled and dedicated
Solar O&M Engineer
to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for operating and maintaining our solar energy systems, ensuring optimal performance and reliability. This role requires a proactive approach to problem-solving, a commitment to safety, and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
Key Responsibilities:
Take primary responsibility for solar plant performance, optimisation of the site and maintaining equipment availability
Perform pre-planned and reactive maintenance works across their solar farms, including electrical maintenance, solar panel cleaning (occasionally) and support the HV team
Effectively help resolve work tickets and report issues back to your line manager, and compile reports of completed works
Liaise with internal and external teams, including in-house LV/HV personnel, the grounds team and external subcontractors when required
Provide mentoring and training to junior technicians where required
Take part in the company's on-call rota for non-working hours (including Bank Holidays, evenings, and weekends)
Qualifications:
Experience in industrial, utility-scale and/or rooftop solar is preferred. However, if no solar experience, then an industrial electrician background is of interest.
A City and Guilds or NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Electrical Engineering, Installation, Testing & Inspection or similar, electrical course
18th edition wiring regulations
High Voltage Authorisation would be advantageous but not essential
A full UK driving licence is essential due to the remote nature of the sites
Skills:
Strong technical proficiency in electrical and mechanical systems
Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple tasks simultaneously
Knowledgeable in basic troubleshooting and IT support
Experienced with data entry and familiar with various operating systems, full training will be provided
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Commitment to safety and quality standards as well as incident prevention
