  • Following the recent award of a multi-billion renewable energy project, a global leading consultancy seeks to employ several Senior Project Controls Engineers who have worked on projects in the energy environment (Power & Renewables, HVDC, Energy & Power Generation, Offshore Cabling, Windfarms, Nuclear etc) to join their growing project team.

    This is an excellent opportunity to work on this flagship programme which will have a major impact on the environment but also various communities in the UK.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Provide leadership to the Project Controls disciplines i.e. Cost Estimating, Cost Engineering, Project Planning and Scheduling.
    • Provide functional assurance to all assigned project estimates, schedules and Cost deliverables to ensure quality and integrity of work performed.
    • Performance of this role will be measured against the ability to meet defined Cost and Schedule performance targets outlined by the Project Services department.
    • Develop and support Management Processes and provide ownership of all Portfolio reporting requirements in line with the company policies and procedures.
    • Oversee and report cash flow performance monthly against assigned Capital Projects and the Capital Plan utilizing Early Warning systems to mitigate cost based risks.
    • Provide analysis and assurance of all data submitted to the Project Services Lead Team on a monthly basis.
    • Monitor implementation of project controls on assigned projects to ensure that systems and procedures are being followed and initiate corrective actions where required.
    • Provide assurance on compliance with the company's project controls policies and procedures.
    • Co-ordinate with staff and the Project Services team members to produce Monthly Cost Reports and accurate Project Schedules.
    • Support the company in defining and monitoring of all appropriate KPI's and reports to provide assurance to Projects Team in all areas of accountability.
    • Provide ownership and control over Project Controls processes and ensure alignment to existing processes for delivery of work.
    • Ensure development plans are in place for direct reports and succession planning is in place for role transitions.
    • Manage resources accordingly to ensure scope of work is delivered efficiently and within agreed timescales.
    • Quality check all work delivered prior to issue ensuring data integrity remains true to allow informed decision making.
    • Develop Recovery Plans for Scope of Work when required to allow corrective action for adverse performance metrics.
    • Key interface between the company for all Project Services scope of work utilizing a top down communication approach for work being performed.


    Key Challenges & Complexities of Role:

    • Driving a sustained improvement in cost performance through accurate and timely use of management information.
    • Supporting culture change through using relevant KPI's to drive performance and focus on delivering desired outcomes.


    Essential Skills & Experience:

    • Team leader experience, demonstrated ability to develop team members.
    • Deep technical experience in all Project Services Disciplines i.e. Cost Estimating, Project Scheduling and Cost Engineering.
    • Extensive experience working in a project portfolio environment.
    • Good understanding of Third Party Service Provider contract terminology.
    • Track record of delivery of strong business results, with complex and competing priorities.
    • Experience in either of the following industries such as: Power & Renewables, HVDC, Energy & Power generation, Offshore cabling, Windfarm is essential.


    Education:

    • Relevant degree in Quantity Surveying, Engineering or Project Management.
    • Affiliation with a Chartered body or a recognised Project Management Institution.
